Walther PPQ “Beta” Magwells Available Now

Walther magwellA7webWe’ve just released our first “beta” magwell for the Walther PPQ. Our plan is to produce them in stainless/bronze the way we do the HK P30/VP9 magwell, but right now we need your feedback to choose the right design. Currently we’re on version A7, which includes some improved funnel characteristics, but still works with a modified stock basepad if need be. It’s designed to work with our “Beta” basepads — which we suggest using — until our machined aluminum production-legal +0 and USPSA-legal 140mm +6’s hit the street in a few weeks.

We had different versions of this set out for people to play with at the recent Taylor Freelance “open shop” event. We chose this release based on what our local crop of master shooters preferred (notably Hwansik Kim, Greg Purcell, and Jordon Castro).

If you’ve got a PPQ, you know the frame is a little on the short side (like the famed Glock 19). By adding this magwell, you extend the frame enough to let you hold the frame solidly with the pinky finger of your support hand — the one that can exercise the most leverage. For many of the people that have tried this in the last few weeks, their immediate reaction was: “Oh yeah. That’s a lot better!”

Hwansik Kim Victorious with TF Sight Block

Despite some ammo-related jams, Hwansik Kim came out on top in his debut match with a TF Sight Block-equipped Glock 22. Currently rated A-limited, Hwansik had to defeat two masters and a Grand Master to earn the win.

Fun at the TF “Open Shop”

What a great night – we had our first “Open Shop” night Dec. 4, inviting many local shooters, plus our friends and family to see our new facility. Pizza, soft drinks, and funny stories flowed freely.  Thanks to all that shared the evening with us!

CYBER WEEKEND SPECIAL

Tanfo Triple Threat Wedge webMarked down 50%, our L-10 “Speed Wedge” basepads for the Tanfoglio or CZ-75 are selling for $9.95 each.

If you haven’t used a “Speed Wedge” — you’re missing out. We’ve released versions for the popular Tanfoglio K-type, and the Mec-Gar small-frame CZ-75 (Shadow).

The design eliminates many of the handling problems associated with stock mags — and makes your mags work well with your favorite magwell.

Steel Spider magwells for the P30 in stock

These beautifulSteel spider web spiderweb magwells aren’t machinable at anything like an affordable price. Instead, we had them 3D printed in stainless/bronze matrix. The material offers much of the toughness of steel, with the beauty and color of bronze.

We polished the exteriors to maximize the “white gold” look of the bronze, but left the interiors and the pinky cut-out “as printed” to give the hand a little extra grip, and keep the price down. Fits the P30 line except the P30SK. Some minor fitting of the replaceable plastic backstrap may be required.

The technology of 3D printing in metals is very new, and (like all 3d printing) tends to be quirky. It took several months for the printing company to deliver these, and we’re still unsure if they’ll be able to deliver more. Suffice it to say, if you’re interested in a beautiful magwell like this, get yours now!
