John McClain shoots for Rock Island, and just came out with a little explanatory video about our “Fattie” magwell.
TF Red-Anodize +12, Etched by Gun Point
Not many people know you can get a TF Glock +10 in red-anodized aluminum. Aluminum is harder on magazines than Delrin, but it lends itself to custom colors and laser-engraving. We particularly like the laser-engraved Gun Point logo shown here. Thanks Felex Yuhtman at Gun Point/American Vintage Gun in Bradenton, Florida for the snapshot!
Rock Island “Fattie” Magwells in Red, Black
Just got these back from finish — Rock Island magwells in red and black anodize. We built these to maximize reload speed and protect the magazine release if you set the gun flat on its left side (a typical USPSA “table start”). Although they’re roughly twice the size of the factory part, they’re actually a little more compact than the outlandish designs available for the STI/SV/Para. (Our IT guy, Greg Marshall, nicknamed these the “Fattie.”)
We released our magwell for the Rock Island wide-body 1911 in February. Thanks in part to friends like Greg Purcell and Ben Quinn at Spartan Arms in Bellingham, Wash., this thing came out really, really well.
The photo at left comes from Greg Purcell, and shows his two primary match pistols — a 9mm and .40.
Upgraded 170mm Glock Extensions — Including .40-cal!
Many of you know our 170mm Glock extension under it’s old name — the “plus eight”. We’ve upgraded the old “plus eight” many times over the years, and this month, we’re introducing a .40 S&W optimized version. Thanks to some upgrades, today’s model is a +10 — and takes its place alongside a 9mm-optimized +12. No matter what name you use to describe them, ours have been the go-to “big stick” extensions for Glock jockeys for more than 20 years.
The new variants also include the quick-release “Chludenski cut” locking plate — making dis-assembly and cleaning simple.
Improved HK 45 +3 Inbound
Yesterday we dropped off the first load of improved HK45 +3 basepads at the anodizer.
Upgrades include ~5mm of extra length, making the basepad easily hand-loadable to a full +3. (HK45C drivers will still get +2+.) The floorplate has thicker “shoulders” as well, tailored to fit the HK45C. That yields a total capacity of 13+1 for the HK45, and 10+1 on the 45C — that’s a 30 percent increase on one, and 25% on the other!
Thank you to the many customers that contacted us with suggestions on this model.
